Lasting Memories
Richard Patrick Nuzzo
Feb. 14, 1936-May 5, 2025
Los Altos Hills, California
Richard Patrick Nuzzo, aged 89, peacefully passed away on May 5, 2025. Born in Fresno, California, to Kay and Anna Kazarian, Rick distinguished himself as a track star at Ventura High School before serving in the United States Air Force from 1954 to 1964. While stationed in England, he met his beloved wife Alice, embarking on a remarkable marriage that lasted just a week shy of 68 years.
For over 49 years, Rick and Alice made their home in Los Altos Hills, where they raised their children, Mark and Alicia. Rick dedicated many years to Abilities United in Palo Alto, assisting physically challenged and neurodivergent children in the therapeutic pool. An avid fisherman who traveled the world, he was also a passionate 49ers fan and was affectionately known as "the Beloved Bear" in Los Altos' Festival of Light Parade.
Rick was a beacon of light to all who knew him, always offering kindness and support to anyone in need. Family was the cornerstone of his life, and he will be profoundly missed.
He is survived by his cherished wife Alice; his children Mark and Alicia Nuzzo; five grandchildren; Brandon, Ashley, Joshua, Elizabeth and Grant and two and a half great-grandchildren, including Sofia (5), Willow (1), and the newest bundle of joy expected on September 25, 2025.
A Celebration of Life will be held July 18 at Los Altos Golf & Country Club from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm.
