It is with deep sadness that the family of James G. Regel, a longtime resident of Menlo Park, CA and Naples, FL announces his passing on July 14, 2026.

Jim passed away peacefully following a challenging struggle with complex health issues at Palo Alto Commons. He had been in the care of dedicated staff and compassionate care givers, to whom the family will be forever grateful.

He was born in Spokane, WA to Mary Leighton Regel and James E. Mack and later became the adoptive son of Keith A. Regel, all of whom preceded him in death. He is survived by his beloved wife, Anne M. Regel, and leaves behind two brothers: Jeffrey Mack and Steven Mack, and three sisters: Susan Weston, Jonna Regel and Candy Regel. A third brother, David Mack, preceded him in death. He also leaves behind a brother-in-law, several sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews all of whom he dearly loved.

Jim was a Godly man whose life was guided by his sense of integrity and gift of wisdom which equipped him with the ability to serve and make sound judgements that aligned with God’s purposes. His sincerity, even temperament and kindness earned him the deep respect and affection from all who knew him.

A graduate of Woodside High School, it was there that he first met the love of his life and future wife of 58 years, Anne King. He went on to graduate with a MBA from UC Berkeley and then attended Officers Candidate School where he was commissioned an officer (Lieutenant JG) of the United States Navy. He served on board an Essex-class aircraft carrier, the US Hancock, in the South Pacific during the Vietnam War as a controller. In addition to extensive air strikes and operations during the war, the US Hancock assisted with personnel evacuations near the end of the conflict.

Shortly after leaving the Navy, Jim began a career in the field of technology. He served as CEO of several publicly traded companies as well as bringing his expertise to other prominent companies including Veralink, Rolm and IBM. Years of extensive international business travel earned him Million Mile Club status.

Jim leaves behind a meaningful legacy defined by years of generous support for Israel and global Christian ministries. He found true joy and fulfillment in serving on the boards of several Christian organizations, giving his time and heart to the causes he loved,

In addition to spending time with his extended family and his beloved Shih Tzu’s, Moses and Sarah, Jim enjoyed watching sports (especially rooting for his 49ers) and loved classic sport and vintage cars, as well as traveling the world with his beloved Anne. He was an avid tennis player and golfer, and he always looked forward to spending time with his many friends .

Jim will leave a lasting imprint on the lives and in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. A celebration of life will take place in California, and it will be announced at a later date.
