David Ny passed away peacefully January 27th 2022 in West Hills CA. He was 76 years old. Born April 29,1945 in Oakland CA, he spent his early childhood in Fillmore CA and at 6 years old moved to Tulare CA with his family. He attended elementary schools in Tulare and Tulare Union High School where he was on the basketball team, was student body president and valedictorian of his 1963 graduating class. He attended the College of the Sequoias, he played for their basketball team, then transferred to UCLA where he met and married Anita Bergford (Ny) He graduated with honors in mathematics in 1967. He is the son of the late William C Ny (well-known teacher, sports coach and high school principal) and the late Janice Taylor Ny of Tulare and Fillmore.

David began his career in Los Altos at a computer company, Timeshare, when personal computer technology was in its infancy. He later worked for Silicon Graphics, Computer Vision, and as VP for a couple of start-ups. He retired from Silicon Graphics at 49 years old. He then moved from Los Altos to upstate New York to volunteer full time for the SYDA Foundation, a not-for-profit organization that has meditation ashrams, and centers world wide. The practices of Siddha Yoga encompass the spiritual practices of yoga, meditation, chanting, contemplation, study and selfless service. . He remained on staff several years. After having his fill of cold weather snow and ice, he moved to sunny Santa Barbara where he enjoyed many old and new friends, took up swing dancing, did lots of hiking and regular walks along the ocean and played basketball at the Y. Basketball always was a big part of his life as he often played on city league teams and looked for those pick up games wherever he went. One of his friends remarked recently that the last time he saw David was 2003 when he went one on one against David on the basketball court - his friend said "David mopped the floor with me".

David always expressed gratitude for what he referred to as his "beautiful life". Once he remarked to a friend while walking along the cliffs above the ocean in Santa Barbara."Can you believe we get to live in such a beautiful place?!" His last big travel adventure was to Peru where he spent 6 weeks enjoying the amazing beauty of the country including Machu Picchu. He had also had traveled to Canada, Mexico, Italy, Greece, France and India.

He had many loyal friends and a wonderful loving family. He is survived by his former wife and best friend Anita Ny, 3 children-Kevin Ny, Karissa Ny, and Kayla Ny, 2 grandchildren -Alicia Patterson and Shyree McGuiness, 3 great grandchildren, his sister Sandra Ny, sister in law Mary Ny, brother and sister in law Roger and Karen Bergford, nieces and nephews, and many cousins. He was preceded in death by his younger brother Stephen (Steve) Ny.

David was known for being smart and quick witted and he made everyone smile and laugh with his zany quips and physical comedy antics. We will miss his very wise counsel and his endless ability to see a better way to do things. He continued to follow with devotion his spiritual path and to teach sales and business skills in seminars for companies up until 3 years ago. Smooth sailing David. We hope you have a basketball at hand to make those 3 pointers wherever you go. You will always occupy a huge place in our hearts. We love you more than ever! Anita Ny, Kevin Ny, Karissa Ny, Kayla Ny, Alicia, Shyree and children.
