Brian Edward Scott passed away peacefully on November 28, 2024, in Gardnerville, NV with his beloved wife Janice Scott by his side. Born in 1949 to Edward Scott and Virginia Morte Scott in Oakland, CA. Brian graduated from Mt. Eden High School, Hayward CA in 1967. He loved music, baseball and played saxophone in the school jazz and marching bands, also playing saxophone and singing in the New Chessman Band around the San Francisco Bay area.

Graduating from UC Berkeley in 1973 with a degree in Biology, he attended Dental School at Case Western Reserve School of Dentistry, Cleveland, Ohio graduating in 1978. He joined the Navy after Dental School and served on active duty in the Navy Dental Corp from 1978 -1981, continuing to serve in the Naval Reserves, retiring as a Captain in 2000. In 1982 he joined Palo Alto Dental Group enjoying a 35-year career there until he retired in 2017. He enjoyed playing various types of music for his patients and was quite the conversationalist on many topics. He was known for his sense of humor. His patients, the staff and his fellow dentists always remained special in his heart.

Brian became active in Mid-Peninsula Dental Society in CA in 1983. He served on the Board of Directors for 7 years and was MPDS President in 1996. He became active in the California Dental Association (CDA) serving as Trustee for 6 years, then on the Executive Committee for 5 years becoming CDA President in 2008. He then served for 2 years on the American Dental Association as Second and First Vice-President and followed as the ADPAC Director from 2013-2017.

Brian is survived by his wife Janice, his sons: Jeffrey (Cindy), Eric (Lecia) and Christopher (Jennifer), his sisters: Nancy (Bill), Dorie (Bill), and Susan; his brothers: Paul and Stephen (Bernadette). He is also survived by his stepchildren: Allen, Stephen (Vy), Elise as well as 11 grandchildren, one great granddaughter and many nieces and nephews. His dogs Dexter and Muffin provided him much love and comfort these past months.

In Lieu of Flowers one may donate to the California Dental Association Foundation in Sacramento, CA to help in access to patient care.

His wife and family would like to express our thanks to Infinity Hospice for their wonderful help and care and for the many friends both professionally and personally that made his life so much brighter. You will all be remembered and loved.
