Mary (Robin) Roberta Duggan
Jan. 29, 1950-March 16, 2024
Mountain View, California

Mary Roberta (Robin) Duggan passed away after a yearlong struggle with metastatic ovarian cancer. Throughout this period, she faced her ordeal with the bravery and graciousness that anyone who knew her would expect.

Robin was born at Hoover Pavilion in Palo Alto to Keith Walker and Mary Sheehan Walker. She grew up on the peninsula, primarily in Menlo Park and Palo Alto, and graduated from Palo Alto High School. She then attended Willamette University in Salem Oregon, and following graduation, obtained her teaching credential from the College of Notre Dame, Belmont. After a short time as a pre-school teacher, she devoted herself to raising her two children. She also served as a volunteer at her children’s schools including St. Lucy in Campbell, St. Simon in Los Altos, and Saint Francis High School in Mountain View.

Additionally, Robin devoted herself to her true passions—art and crafting. She excelled in any artistic field she pursued ranging from stained glass and weaving pine needle baskets to her favorite crafting pursuit of making intricate paper cuttings and artistic greeting cards. As much as she enjoyed creating her art, she enjoyed bringing joy to others by giving it away.

She was always a gracious host to family and friends at innumerable family celebrations, holiday gatherings, parties and get togethers. She was a wonderful cook and excelled at all kinds of desserts. She developed quite a reputation for delicious homemade ice cream and double chocolate brownies.

However, what really set her apart was her care and concern for others. She neither sought nor enjoyed attention. She was truly interested in other people and strove to think the best of them and always treated others with respect and kindness. It was her kindness, generosity of spirit and thoughtfulness that people who encountered her most remember.

She will be truly missed by her family including her husband of 50 years, Kevin Duggan; her daughter Julie Pierron (Joseph) and son Andrew (Chelsea) and four adoring grandchildren: Abigail Pierron, Riley Pierron, Elliott Duggan and Natalie Duggan. She also leaves behind sisters Linda, Marcy and Laurie and brother Dan as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends.

The family would like to thank the compassionate and skilled professionals who assisted her this past year from the Palo Alto Medical Foundation, El Camino Hospital and Pathways Hospice.
