Maria Quinby, age 66, died peacefully on July 23, 2024 of melanoma metastatic to her brain. Born in Uppsala, Sweden, Maria was a resident of Woodside, California and the wife of Jonathan Quinby for 32 years.

With an economics and business administration degree from Uppsala University in 1986, Maria added an Interior Design degree from Cañada College in 2004. She started her own professional design, organizing, and move management business that same year and focused on helping people to downsize and ‘rightsize’ their lives.

Maria loved nature, hiking, gardening, swimming, sewing, cooking, bicycling, and visiting friends and family in Sweden. She enjoyed all of the arts and was a world traveler who spent several summers leading tours around Scandinavian countries for Stanford and Yale.

Maria was a wonderful, honest, thoughtful, loving, driven, and kind role model. She will be greatly missed by her husband, her children Alexandra M. (Irvine, CA), and Peter W. (San Francisco, CA), as well as her mother Eva (Sigtuna, Sweden), and brother Johan (Vallentuna, Sweden).
