Kathy Trabue Weiss, age 64, of Kapaau, Hawaii, passed away unexpectedly on April 29, 2023. Kathy was born on April 9, 1959, in Dublin, Ohio. Her parents, Jerry and Beverly Trabue, welcomed Kathy as their first daughter and Teri as their second. The Trabue family made many happy memories at their vacation home in Big Pine Key, Florida, where Jerry taught them to swim, fish, and care for nature.

Kathy had two children, Ally and Shane Weiss, with Warren (Bunny) Weiss. The Weiss family lived in Minnesota, Georgia, Texas, and California, where the kids were raised. While living in California, Kathy fell in love with Yosemite, Half Moon Bay, Tahoe, and all that the Golden State has to offer. She lived a life filled with laughter and adventure; to call her curious would be an understatement. Kathy enjoyed gardening, road trips, music, and most importantly animals. She had many dogs throughout the years: Mowgli, Ron, and Baloo, to name a few. The family knows Kathy is in heaven with all of them, along with her loved ones who have passed.

In recent years, Kathy fulfilled her dream of moving to Hawaii, where she tended to over 100 fruit trees, donated to her local church, made improvements on her home, and took care of her dog, Fella. Kathy was a woman of the universe. She was a deep thinker and always contemplated what is beyond earth. She adored her family more than anything in the world and never failed to express that. Her children were her greatest love.

There was no one quite like Kathy. Her fierce independence was her biggest strength and weakness. Kathy will live on in every sunset and every sunrise. You will catch her in the waves in the ocean and the sand on the beach. She will live on in every flower you see and every bird you hear. Kathy believed in the afterlife and always told her children that the body is “just a shell.” When you see the stars in the nighttime sky, think of her.

Kathy is predeceased by her parents. She is survived by her sister Teri Trabue Simpson, daughter Ally Weiss and son-in-law Alex Schwartz, son Shane Weiss and daughter-in-law Kelly Weiss, niece Somerset Simpson, two beloved grandchildren Atlas Schwartz and Avery Weiss, and ex-husband Bunny Weiss and wife Carol Ann Weiss. She will be greatly missed and never forgotten.
