John Arnold Galen

John Arnold Galen was born in Portland, Oregon, to Delphine (Bendheim) and David. When he was two, the family moved to San Francisco. John attended Lowell High School, continuing his studies at Stanford University, when World War II intervened. He served in the U.S.Army in The Philippines and Occupied Japan. While in the army, he met his future wife. After the war, he and Florine married and had three children. During his professional career John engaged in multiple business ventures. His is survived by his wife of 78 years, Florine; three children Robert (Pamela), Janet (Scott), and Douglas (Susan); five grandchildren (Andrew, Abigail, Julia, Jacob, Jessica); and one great-grandchild (Lucy). His ashes will be scattered under the Golden Gate Bridge, which he regarded fondly, having walked across it in 1939 on its opening day.
