Hildegard Cervenka

After a long and varied life, Hilde Cervenka passed peacefully at home at age 98 1/2. She was born in Germany and despite many challenges, she persevered and went to veterinary school. At age 30 she emigrated to the United States, meeting her husband Josef on the transport boat on the way to New York. She lived in the Chicago area for more than 40 years, working both as a vet and then as a teacher's aide, prior to moving to Palo Alto at age 75 to be near her grandchildren, to whom she was devoted. Hilde was an avid gardner, reader, and world traveler. Hilde and Josef were married for 67 years until his passing in July 2025. Hilde is survived by her daughter Andrea, son-in-law Shai, and grandchildren Adam and Abigail. Many thanks to her caregivers Ester, Samphors and Jon.
