Gail Kaiser
Sept. 20, 1957-Oct. 5, 2024
Palo Alto, California

Gail Kaiser, a 42-year resident of Palo Alto, died at home on October 5 after a 6-year battle with multiple myeloma. She was 67. Gail was born at the US Air Force hospital in Wiesbaden, West Germany. Her parents worked in the Foreign Service and she grew up in Yugoslavia, Austria, Poland and South Africa.

Gail attended New England Conservatory for three years studying harpsichord and organ. She then transferred to Santa Clara University where she earned a BS in Economics and later an MBA. After working as a product manager for ROLM, IBM, and Siemens she decided to start a family and became the mother of two beloved children.

Gail had strong views on national and local politics (she was a committed precinct walker) as well as on the environment. She served on the board of Green Foothills for a number of years. She treasured California's city, County, State and National parks, hiking and camping as often as she could until late in her illness.

Gail worked in finance and operations at the Natural Capital Project at Stanford, an interdisciplinary environmental research group. The fifteen years that she spent there were by far her most satisfying work.

Gail is survived by her husband Mark Anderton, her children Claire and John (Kaili) Anderton, brothers Paul (Kathryn) and Tim (Margaret) Kaiser, sister-in-law Jane Anderton Gaisor (Ross) and by her many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents Herb and Joy Kaiser. She asked us to remember all who supported her during her cancer treatments: her wonderful friends, family and caregivers at Stanford Medicine.

A celebration of Gail's life will take place at a later date. If you would like to make a small donation to Planned Parenthood she would thank you.
