In Loving Memory of Carol Lynn Weber

Carol Weber of Palo Alto passed away peacefully on January 10th, on her 78th birthday.

Born in 1946 in Muskegon, Michigan to Edward N. Kikstra and Jean Sylvia Kikstra (Bouma). Carol is preceded in death by her sisters, Gaye Hazel and Sharon Linderman and ex-husband, Jeff Weber. She is survived by her son and his family; Matt Weber, Connie Weber, Caitlin Weber (17), and Samantha Weber (13) and by her daughter and family; Jenny Cautrell, John Cautrell, Camden Cautrell (11). She is also survived by her partner Daniel Dugan, extended family and close friends.

Carol graduated from Calvin College in three short years, because 20 credits cost the same amount as 15. She continued her education at Michigan State University earning her Masters in Social Work which she used as a school social worker in the greater Detroit area. After the draft ended, she and Jeff left Michigan for an extended honeymoon, touring the western United States in a Volkswagon van. She delighted in showing off the mountains, redwoods, and coastal areas her father had shared with her in her youth.

After settling in California, Carol utilized her education by taking a job at Big Brother/Big Sisters where she learned valuable business and networking skills. These skills, as well as her genuine nature and desire to help people led to a successful transition to working in real estate, followed by a successful career as a real estate loan officer.

“Never a dull moment” may well sum up Carol’s life. From starting school at age 4 to traveling the world, starting companies and buying property, reading voraciously, chronicling genealogy, and completing more crafting and quilting projects than wall space. Carol was always productive. Still, no project ever took precedence above her family. Her love and devotion will be held in our hearts and souls forever.

I mourn the loss of Carol, our neighbor. She told me once that her family was originally from Friesland, a northern provence in The Netherlands, known for its excellent and world renowned life stock. Indeed, her maiden name Kikstra is a well k...
